Arnold Air Force Base to Fund $22.1 Million in Facility Improvements through Energy Savings with NORESCO

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -

NORESCO, a national leader in energy efficiency and infrastructure solutions, is implementing $22.1 million in facility improvements at Arnold Air Force Base (AFB) in Tennessee, through an energy savings performance contract (ESPC). The project will modernize interior and exterior lighting systems, enhance building automation systems and upgrade steam distribution systems. These measures are in support of the Air Force initiative to provide mission assurance through energy assurance and will deliver more than $37.6 million in guaranteed savings over the life of the project. NORESCO is a part of Carrier, a leading global provider of innovative HVAC, refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies and a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

“The Arnold Engineering Development Complex is one of the largest, most advanced flight simulation and test facility complexes in the world, and it is a unique honor to help the Air Force achieve its ongoing mission here,” said Natasha Shah, vice president, NORESCO. “The enhancements delivered by the project will help Arnold AFB operate more efficiently while continuing to offer a suite of test and analysis capabilities for U.S. aerospace and defense systems.”

The project also uses Facilities Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) funding allowing for a broader, more comprehensive ESPC that will reduce the site’s energy footprint, upgrade aging infrastructure and systems, enhance safety and reduce deferred maintenance for the site and staff.
