The Center is a state-of-the-art, 5 MW natural gas-fired cogeneration facility that produces 23,000 pounds of steam per hour. Its cooling towers provide a total condenser water-flow capacity of 9,200 gallons per minute. | |
| • | University of Massachusetts Medical Center UMass Medical Center had energy infrastructure challenges and needed to upgrade its 25-year old cogeneration plant to improve reliability. By repowering the energy plant and improving building/system efficiencies, UMass will save nearly $36 million over the next 10 years. | |
