Making the energy efficiency honor roll

School districts across the nation are responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality teaching and learning environments where students can achieve their maximum potential. This means continually planning for and providing comfortable and safe facilities that meet or exceed state standards and guidelines. Plagued by constrained budgets and deferred maintenance challenges, school districts often have to make tough choices between investments in educational programs and investments that reduce energy and operating costs.

Comfortable Classrooms. Successful Students.

NORESCO helps school districts improve the learning environment for their students. As your energy services partner, we offer a range of turnkey solutions from energy efficiency retrofits and modernization to renewable energy to energy infrastructure solutions. For new construction or major renovation projects, we provide sustainable design and LEED® consulting services to improve school design, create a healthy, energy-efficient environment and reduce waste. Our energy procurement services help ensure savings measures are successful in the long-term.

We have the financial strength and expertise to bundle these solutions into a performance contract so that school districts can modernize infrastructure, reduce operating costs and achieve sustainability goals without the need for upfront capital expenditure. This combined with savings guarantees from NORESCO provides high financial return with low financial risk to further enhance the project’s financial performance. The resultant savings can be directed toward further investments in infrastructure or toward staffing and programs.

With experience in the energy and sustainability services field since 1984, we can help you navigate through the various reviews and approvals needed from the school board, local government councils, public works, and other agencies. In order to ensure the safety and security of the students and staff during the construction period, we are in constant communication with school officials and maintain a flexible schedule, often working during unoccupied periods or school breaks.

Energy Curriculum Enhancement

Energy curriculum enhancement is the perfect way to bring real-world energy and sustainability challenges into the classroom and encourage community involvement. Our Energy Conservation Through Behavior Change® program empowers students to develop new skills through use of hands-on learning tools that will engage students in the energy project and provide teachers with innovative additions to the curriculum. Through a variety of sustainability activities and projects designed to enhance existing curriculum, students will learn core sustainability topics and apply them to their lives. Projects are grade-specific and may include applying sustainability frameworks, calculating carbon footprints, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and developing a green supply chain.

LEED® is a registered trademark owned by the U.S. Green Building Council.

We’ve had the opportunity to have NORESCO work with us over the last several years on more than $10M worth of work. We’ve been able to document a significant savings, and in addition to the savings, we’ve been able to deliver a better product to our ‘customers’, the students and staff in our schools. During the construction, their project management stays on top of things, and the end result has been another feather in our sustainability cap.
